Back to 1977;

this was the year of the first Mini Transat as organised by Bob Salmon.

The boat on the photo is the Anderson Affair an Anderson 22 productionboat,this is the boat Bob Salmon himself used in the first MT.
As I understand it Bob did not complete the race as a short distance from the finish he hit a reef and lossed the keel. The picture was taken at Penzance just before the start, in the background you can see another Anderson 22 entered in the race , you can tell which one it is because the bow is cut off to make it 6.5m long like Bobs. This was called Spirit of Talardy and sailed by Solly Parker, not sure of the out come of this one.

I got this "trivia" from Paul Peggs, he helped building those boats back then and is now self competing in the 2001 MT. Thanks Paul.
