THE GINTO. This year is a funny year, in special in the Production Class.
Lets see, I want to see a new Production design, spanking new from a top designer. I can choose between Magnen, Lombard, Finot and
Rolland, top names in the Transat 650's. Which one shall I choose ???? Oh, wait, they all are coming out with a new production design, Magnen even involved in two, the Ginto and with Nivelt in the Mistral. Except Rolland, this master sees his Pogo being put in the closet, it stopped production, they will fade out. But because they are built so well, that will take some decades.... Another funny thing, the first new Production design, the Nau, is struggling, the
balance struck of 10 sold. The Mistral 2 build, this will take a while to get to ten, and then the Zero, 6 build, looking good and certainly a production design in 2005 Then the smashing hit of the Pogo2, it is P-Class in 2003, with top sailors. So it looks like how later you start how better it goes, big smile. Now it is show time
for the Ginto, just launched and looking o so sharp. I can not imagine that it will sell more then the Pogo2, but that kind of things can happen.... I don't know how much boats the Azimuth yard can produce in a year...this is the Achilles heel of the Supercalin, so many are bought by cruisers, or people trying to get into mini racing but time constrains limit them, together with the low production volume of SuperCalin, they are a rare, but nice, sight. Here it is the GINTO, a Magnen design. |
