Thanks guys!! Leo the most difficult point is to start, I will keep you posted in the blog as well as in your forum. Kev, yes :) In any case I cover it when I am not working to avoid sun and rain exposition. Drivingsouth, all, except cost estimation, is in my blog. Regarding the design there is also an article in Leo's home page, it is worthy to give it a look. It is a plan Lucas http://www.fr-lucas.com called "MiniCP" http://www.fr-lucas.com/siteus/realisations.asp?detail=27#liste a nice design for "amateur" construction; an also very important: Lucas has always been kind and fast in his replies and sharing his thoughs. Now I am buying the Marine plywood for the hull and CNC'ed it. Stay in touch but be patient, LOL!! Best regards, |

Hi folks, August it’s been very productive! All the frames are already at place; soon the whole internal structure will be finished and then… the hull! Hi guys, You can now keep your eyes off the Transat6,50 official regatta site for a while:  It is a picture of my miniCP, with all the internal structure installed and filleted. My blog has been updated ( http://gwaihir650.blogspot.com/) and now I am working with the carbon reinforcements and the red cedar stringers… Cheers! |

Looks like a good project! What is the predicted all up weight? Are there any CP's actually sailing at the mo?

As fas as I know there is no one sailing yet, the estimated final weight is 850 Kg. I amb following the plans 100% except that I will add an extra Fibreglass layer in the hull and I added also extra reinforcement Carbon layer in the transom and rudders, so add approx 10 kg more.

Hello again, I am working on her, slowly due to Real Life (tm)... but constantly! I did finish with the internal "C3" UD carbon reinforcements of the frames  Also red cedar stringers are at places and now she looks like that:  As usual more pics in my blog ( http://www.gwaihir650en.blogspot.com/). Verry good indeed too see a backyard project like this! For some it's an illusion and lucky for you it's a dream come true.

Hi again! After the winter break I began to work on her again, I have just installed keel box, a very tricky but important part. As you can see it is reinforced with fibreglass in and out, while the forward half its all plywood and its where the mast lies. I have to install yet the cap piece of the keel box (take into account she is upside-down):  Second milestone is done !!!Now its time for the hull: plywood skin reinforced with FG. Third milestone, the hull, is completed! :-)    Those wood strips are battens to help the hull pieces have a fair curve, I have to remove them. Now I have to prepare the hull (sand, epoxi+FG+sand, sand, sand,…..) and turn her! Regards, |
